Hello, Qigong friends! Summer is taking hold, a season of growth and warmth and joy. It’s the season of the heart, the emperor of our body, who desires peace and order.

How do we cultivate inner peace during chaotic times?

The heart is joined in this effort by the small intestine, the organ with the job of processing what we’ve taken in from the world around us, extracting what will nourish us, and moving the rest along to be returned to the earth.

In other words, we ruminate.

Summer is a time for action, but this must be balanced with contemplation, retreat, and rest. Think about your physical heart–it is healthier when it beats faster for a little while everyday, but it doesn’t want to beat fast all the time.

So, friends, take care of yourselves, know yourselves, and trust yourselves, and remember to let things go.
